The ideal candidate for either position will be an innovative and energetic board certified psychiatrist. The essential job duties and requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for both positions follow. The primary difference in the positions is the Medical Director, in addition to providing direct psychiatric services to adolescents and adults approximately 80% of the time, has the following essential job duties as Director :

Provides or assures that all District 19 consumers receive appropriate medical screening, psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis; assures that all medical/psych treatment is documented; oversees quality assurance and continuous quality improvement of med/psych services; acts as primary liaison with community physicians, hospital staff and community organizations; provides medical/psychiatric involvement in the development and review of policies and procedures that govern care; provides administrative and medical supervision of physicians and residents.

Both positions require the successful applicant have:

Knowledge of principles, standards, practices and techniques related to psychiatry, psychiatric illness and wellness; of different diagnoses; of participating on multi-disciplinary teams; of substance abuse assessment and interventions and how they impact treatment of persons with serious mental illness; of prescribing the latest in new psychotropic medicine; skills in psychiatric diagnosis, treatment, consultation and collaboration with other mental health professionals.

Doctor of Medicine with a completion of an approved residency in psychiatry with a license to practice in Virginia. Board certified by American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry. Demonstrated experience in community mental health with persons with serious and persistent mental illness, in leadership ability among peers, and in a supervisory role with other psychiatrists (for Medical Director); a valid Virginia Driver’s License with acceptable driving record. Demonstrated experience with substance use and co-occurring disorders, and in community mental health with persons with serious and persistent mental illness preferred.

The PACT team Psychiatrist is required to be Board certified or Board eligible in psychiatry, and is licensed to practice medicine.
