Area Clinics provide a wide array of mental health, mental retardation and substance abuse services to residents of the cities of Colonial Heights, Dinwiddie, Emporia, Hopewell and Petersburg, and the counties of Dinwiddie, Greensville, Prince George, Surry and Sussex.
Our primary objective is to provide quality community-based services in the least restrictive setting to people in need by providing tools to improve their total overall level of functioning often resulting in personal growth and empowerment.
Our population may include adults with serious mental illness, children and adolescents with severe emotional disturbance as well as other consumers in need of mental health, mental retardation or substance abuse services

Clinics may provide the following services dependent on their location:

Psychiatric and Nursing Services

Psychiatric and Nursing Services provides consumers with diagnostic assessments and evaluations, education regarding mental illness and medication issues, medication management, drug and alcohol screenings, prescriptions, medication administration, injections, lab work, consultations with other members of multi-disciplinary team, consultation and referral to outside health care providers and staff and community training. Psychiatric and Nursing Services also provides consultation to District 19 Substance Abuse and Mental Retardation Services. Services are provided by registered nurses and by both child and adult psychiatrists.

Jail Services

Counseling and educational services around substance issues are available to local jails in the District 19 area. The purpose is to begin the rehabilitation and recovery process of incarcerated individuals whose substance abuse has played a role in their involvement with the criminal justice system.
